It also feels underpowering, I hope they add a small stun to hitting during wind-up and increase the stun as it is now so you can actually get a good punish in. You need to land the feather as the enemy is doing the move, not during the wind-up. These are like Sekiro's perilous moves, but there's just one answer, the feather. You can see green spirals swirling around enemies when they're primed for one as well, so it's not random.

It's meant for critical attacks, the ones where a green arrow is visible between you and your enemy. Now, the Feather parry, really bad tutorial and tooltip (you can look at in the menu again but it's the same). Same in Sekiro really, deflections don't always create a window, the real reward is the posture build-up.

Parrying 4-5 attacks in a row seems to be better than separate. There seems to be an exponential build up on successive parries. However, parrying isn't really about opening up your enemy directly, it's about getting the Wound damage in. It feels underpowering since sometimes you can't get a hit in after parrying a string of attacks or the enemy will recover before YOU do. Yes, the window for parry is really tiny, and there's no partial or constant block, so it's like Sekiro with deflection only. Parrying is the main core here, so much so that there are two parries. This is much more Sekiro than Souls, the dodge (even with what the devs say it is upgradeable) doesn't seem to be a core part of the kit. yeah, it's a bit rough and hopefully is a really old build that saw little play-testing outside the developers. Just played some of the demo, and want to put some rambly impressions here while it's hot in the head. I can see a lot of interesting ideas in there, but they still need many more months in the oven. Performance is rooooooough it began on ultra and simply turning the camera made fps go to smithereens (on an RTX3060 and 32GB RAM, installed on my NMVe). Every battle with a slightly tougher opponent becomes a battle of attrittion. Also there's a prompt for executing a dazed enemy which turns out to simply be a regular blow.Īnd I thought the claw attack mechanic is bullshit On stronger enemies you strip away their HP barrier and if you don't spam the claw it simply charges back. Parrying doesn't even seem to stagger or open enemies for a counterattack, it simply deals more damage, which made me very confused. Mechanics are spotty, the feather decides when it's going to work or not.

#UPCOMING ACTION RPGS 2017 FULL#

There's a ton of input lag, the character starts running a FULL second or more after the button is held. I would love to eat my words when this releases.Įchoing what was already said here, but I immediately felt like there's no way this is releasing in August. Wish them well but billing this as a souls game brings lofty expectations they haven't even started to meet with this demo. I would be willing to forgive a lot of the rough edges if I hadn't been seeing videos about this game in various stages for nearly four years. The graveyard enemy also dashes into the attack animation regardless of distance so trying to time the special parry becomes an exercise in take the hit and keep moving rather than even attempting to parry it. Fine in theory, but often times the enemy is already in your space since your attack range is so limited. That special parry move is essentially the same parry move as the standard parry but can be done from distance. I am not in total objection to this, but the attacks that have to be countered with the "special parry" have such weird animations and inconsistent timings that it is often more logical to attempt to distance yourself. It plays as if someone watched a souls game being played on youtube and missed the point.ĭodging has some weird cool down between uses. Trailers were cut in a way that made me skeptical but hopeful.Īfter finishing the demo all I can say is HOLY SHIT IS THIS GAME ROUGH. Been looking forward to this game for a while now.
